In addition to the ExtraTainment.com website, the company will also create licensed entertainment for other parties. Entertainment plays a major role in tying consumers to a portal or website. Cartoons, games and free downloads keep visitors coming back. Though ExtraTainment.com is based in The Netherlands, its entertainment is truly global in scope and appeal, making it an ideal content provider for websites and portals from around the world. ExtraTainment.com is the brainchild of Dutch cartoonist and web designer Hubert Roth. Roth started ExtraGratis.com in October of 1999 as a platform for his experimental Flash-based cartoons. Earlier this year, ExtraGratis.com was nominated as Cool Site Of The Year 2000 in the Cartoons category. It is the only Dutch website ever to be nominated at the Cool Site Of The Year awards. This enthusiastic response from fans, press and industry alike convinced Roth to turn his hobby into a business, and ExtraTainment.com was born.
